Wondering Heights Map

About the Map

The Wondering Heights map contains four suggested walking routes, all inspired by the wild energy of the moors, and the worlds of Bush and Brontë. Use them as starting points for your own movement, reflection, or dance. Follow the routes or simply wander let the landscape and your body guide you.

As part of Wondering Heights, cartographer and author Chris Goddard was commissioned to produce this map both as a physical object, and a way of linking and locating the project to and into the Bradford moorland and its layers of history. You can view and download the map from this page, or, during July, there will be a limited number of riso print copies available to pick up from local hubs (see info below).

The map is just one facet of the project—Wondering Heights aims to be accessible and inclusive.

Please note that access guides for some routes can be found via the Access Framing page for the project.

Walking Routes Include:

  1. Lucy’s Dream – 2km
  2. Thornton Village – 6.7km
  3. Ogden Water – 2.6km
  4. Denholme – 3.4km

Additional notes (not on the map!):

  • Lucy’s Dream” is a short circular route beginning near Denholme Gate, imagined by Lucy as a dreamy, accessible introduction to Wondering Heights. Perfect for first-time wanderers, quiet reflection, or a gentle solo dance.
  • The “Wondering Heights Dancefloor” is for those who want to locate their dance in the original spot imagined by Lucy at the beginning of this project. Maybe this is Wondering Heights’ spiritual home…
